Privacy Policy
We ask for as little information as we can, use it only to do the work you hired us for, and never sell it. This page explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. Who We Are
Lorens ("Lorens", "we", "us" or "our") is a digital studio based in Chennai, India, working with clients worldwide. We design and build websites, web applications, e-commerce stores, chatbots, automation and related digital products.
This policy covers the website lorens.in, any subdomains we operate, and the information you share with us by email, phone, our contact form or during a project engagement. If you have questions about anything here, write to lorens@lorens.in.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that helps us reply to you or deliver a project.
Information you give us
- Contact details — name, email address, phone number and company name submitted through our contact form, careers form or by email.
- Project details — budget range, timelines, requirements, brand assets, content and any files you send us so we can scope and build the work.
- Application details — for career enquiries: your CV or portfolio link, work history and anything else you choose to include.
- Correspondence — messages, feedback and call notes exchanged during an enquiry or project.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system and screen size.
- Usage data — pages visited, time spent, referring page and links clicked. This is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.
What we never ask for
We do not collect payment card numbers on this website, and we never ask for passwords by email. Invoices are settled through bank transfer or a third-party payment provider that handles the transaction on its own systems.
3. How We Use It
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal, estimate or scope of work.
- To deliver, host, support and maintain the project you engaged us for.
- To raise invoices and keep the accounting records the law requires us to keep.
- To review job applications and get back to candidates.
- To understand which pages of our site are useful, so we can improve them.
- To send project updates and, where you have asked for it, occasional studio news. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your data. We do not trade, rent or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers — not now, and not as part of any future change of ownership without telling you first.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Where data protection law (including the GDPR and India's DPDP Act) applies, we rely on:
- Consent — when you submit a form, subscribe to updates or accept non-essential cookies.
- Contract — when processing is necessary to deliver a project you have engaged us for.
- Legal obligation — for tax, accounting and statutory record-keeping.
- Legitimate interests — for site security, fraud prevention and understanding aggregate site usage, balanced against your rights.
6. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted providers to run this site and our work. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Hosting & CDN providers — serve this website and keep server logs for security.
- Google Fonts & jsDelivr — deliver the fonts and stylesheets used on this site; your browser requests these files directly.
- Google Workspace / Drive — email and project file sharing, including the case files linked from our Projects page.
- Form and email delivery services — route contact and careers submissions to our inbox.
- Analytics providers — report aggregate traffic patterns.
Some of these providers operate servers outside your country. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
8. Data Retention
- Enquiries that do not become projects — kept up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Project files and correspondence — kept for the duration of the engagement and up to 3 years after, so we can support the work.
- Invoices and financial records — kept for 8 years, as required by Indian tax law.
- Job applications — kept up to 12 months in case a suitable role opens, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregate form only.
9. How We Protect Data
This site is served over HTTPS. Access to client files, inboxes and hosting accounts is restricted to the people who need it, protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and reviewed when someone leaves a project.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority without undue delay.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — have inaccurate or incomplete information fixed.
- Delete — ask us to erase your data where we have no legal reason to keep it.
- Restrict or object — limit how we use your data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Portability — receive your data in a common, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
- Complain — to your local data protection authority.
Email lorens@lorens.in with your request and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
11. Children's Privacy
Our services are meant for businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our services, tools or the law change. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. For significant changes we will place a notice on this page, and where we have an ongoing relationship with you, tell you by email.
